It’s not often that one gets the opportunity to meet one of the few people they admire and respect enough to call a role model. And it’s even more rare to have a chance to speak with them while overlooking one of the world’s best skylines, in a hotel fit for the royal family. Although Jill Scott’s and my experiences were different, those awe-inspiring feelings were mutual.
So while I sat inches away, staring at my she-ro, Jill Scott would occasionally tilt her head to the right and gaze out of the floor to ceiling windows. I can imagine her musings didn’t have anything to do with the view of Manhattan’s beautiful architecture. No, she was thinking of the amazing spirit she had encountered: that of the Godfather of Soul.
As she dished about her role in Get On Up to us, Jill Scott couldn’t help but reminisce about the admiration and love she felt in playing the second wife of James Brown, DeeDee Brown. She emphatically declared, “I miss him,” and “I fell in love with him” while describing the connection she had to both DeeDee and James Brown. And while the kindred spirit seems a bit bizarre, one conversation with this golden actress made me believe it’s definitely real.
Those five-inch stilettos look great in photos, but walking in them for any extended period of time can be hell on your feet. We’ve all heard the popular adage, “Beauty is pain.” But that doesn’t always have to be the case. Sometimes a girl just wants to be comfortable in jeans, a tee and a pair of stylish sneakers.
The price of sneakers may have fluctuated with the growing population of hype beasts. But trust, there are still some shoes out there that won’t have you giving your rendition of Kevin Hart‘s line, “You see… the way my bank account is set up…”
Check out these 13 stylish sneakers under $100 for the women on a budget. (more…)
Divorce rumors and illegitimate children be damned. There are still celebrity couples with (seemingly) strong relationships and men who (I like to think) are faithful husbands. While no marriage is perfect, it’s definitely refreshing to see men in the spotlight still love and care for the women who are hopelessly devoted to them.
Of course, we don’t know the intricacies of their relationships, because we only get a spectator’s view of the love these couples share—but the fact that none of these men have been rumored to have stepped out on their wives speaks volumes.
Get ready to have your hope in romance restored with these 15 faithful husbands who have never been caught up in cheating scandals. Yet.

Loso somewhat glamorized the idea of being in a situationship on a track from his Soul Tape 3. And it’s nice to have the leniency of a no-strings-attached kind of relationship—daring even. That is until the guy decides to move on to someone else and you’re left with nothing but what could’ve been a relationship. The reality of a “situationship” is that there are no titles and no commitments. But alas, there’s a silver lining to the heartbreak of a non-boyfriend. That little loophole he used to breakup with you is also your be-petty-to-bae free card. Get ready to be a little immature with our 12-step program to getting over your non-boyfriend.
